Joy Joy Confections!
While downtown enjoying Kansas City's "First Friday" event, I made sure to visit a particular gallery where a former roller derby teammate was showing off her goods! Much to my surprise, she was making candy suckers by hand, molding and shaping them into all sorts of fun things! I purchased this little guy from her, and I was just so amazed by her talent! Her name is Ai Carver, and she is originally from Japan. This art form has become a wonderful hobby, and it's now growing into a business! There were many other designs, and a little boy showed off his made-to-order tiger with pride. My little Octopus is so cute, I just don't think I can eat him! You can check out more of Ai's creations at www.joyjoyconfections.com. Currently, her candy sculptures are available for purchase at a local store here in Kansas City. But, I'm sure she'd love to get custom orders from anywhere! If you're interested in finding out more about her candy creations, contact her here: E-mail: joyjoycandy@gmail.com

As a candy maker myself, I find these fascinating ! I'd never have the patience necessary to create these works of art and would hate to have them eaten!!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! I love the octopus! Thanks for sharing - I'm going to check out her site right now. :)
